First Rail Land Rental Review Imminent
In 1996 the Ngati Whatua o Orakei Trust Board purchased 20 hectares of Railway land. Under the purchase terms, this land could not provide income from any operating leases until August 2011.
As that date approaches, the Railways Land Review Committee (a committee of Ngati Whatua O Orakei Trust Board) is tasked with the process of setting rents for existing leases.
The committee is preparing for likely rent rises. They are also preparing for possible negative media feedback over Ngati Whatua o Orakei as landlords.
