Ngati Whatua O Orakei Business Diversity

Ngati Whatua O Orakei is involved in a wide range of business activities.
Their business activities range from non-profit whanau (member) based activities through to minimum-profitability, community focused, activities to maximum-profitability, commercially focused, ones.
The parent body managing all this complexity is the Ngati Whatua O Orakei Maori Trust Board.
To manage the maximum-profitability activities, the Trust Board created a commercial arm, called Ngati Whatua O Orakei Corporate in 1995.
You will read about some of these activities shortly by clicking on the Commercial and Development links to the right.
All other activities are managed under the mantle of the Ngati Whatua O Orakei Maori Trust Board.
These activities are reported on widely here too. Choose a link to the right to read more.
In 1998, the Trust Board appointed Tiwana Tibble as its first Chief Executive Officer. Tiwana is also the Chief Executive Officer of Ngati Whatua O Orakei Corporate.
Both organisations are staffed by one small team.
Through this structure, the board has achieved a broad range of outcomes.
Notably, group equity has risen from $30m in 1998 to over $260m in 2008.
