Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei & nib Opportunities:

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is embarking on some exciting new health and wellness initiatives.  We are currently looking for two, and possibly 3, individuals to be employed on a fixed term basis of at least 6 months, to assist in designing and rolling out the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Toi Ora programme - a health and wellness initiative that will give whānau greater access to services in Aotearoa to improve their health and wellness in Aotearoa.  The positions that are available will allow you to grow the skills in your own kete and also give you an opportunity to share our Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei tikanga and ahurea tuakiri with nib - the second largest private health insurance company in NZ. You will be the face of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei within nib, helping to provide cultural understanding and background of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei mātāpono and whānau, as well as being an advocate for Toi Ora within the hapū. These positions have been jointly developed by nib and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to allow us to craft Toi Ora and to tailor the roll out to ensure that it is culturally appropriate for, and meets the needs of, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.  Whilst nib has its imbedded processes, this is a chance for you to bring your experience, knowledge and culture to the business and this innovative initiative. You will be employed directly by nib for the fixed term, but during this period will frequently interact with the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa and Whai Maia teams.

Project Administrator – Fixed Contract

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is looking to appoint a project administrator to work with nib, one of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s key delivery partners, to ensure that the project is delivered in a way that is consistent with the matapono and tikanga of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.  nib is the second largest private health insurance provider in New Zealand, and a significant player in the Australian private health insurance market. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who ideally has had some previous project administration experience.  The successful candidate will be embedded within nib’s business for the duration of the project (9 to 12 months), and will assist the Project & Portfolio Manager to ensure that the project is delivered smoothly.  Tasks will include maintaining the key documentation for the project, assisting the project manager to meet their project tasks and some junior project management tasks. Our ideal candidate will:
  • Have strong oral and written communcation skills;
  • Be good at managing their time and prioritising multiple workstreams;
  • Have had previous exposure to project management principles and practices;
  • Be able to build good relationships with colleagues;
  • Have intermediate level computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; and
  • Be familiar with the matapono and tikanga of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

Marketing Campaign Co-ordinator – Fixed Contract

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is looking to appoint a marketing campaign co-ordinator to work with nib, one of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s key delivery partners, to ensure that the digital communications are delivered in a way that is consistent with the matapono and tikanga of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.  nib is the second largest private health insurance provider in New Zealand, and a significant player in the Australian private health insurance market. We are looking for a strong communicator who has had previous experience in designing marketing campaigns, and written and visual collateral, that connect with Māori and have resulted in behavioural changes.  The successful candidate will be embedded within nib’s business for the duration of the project (9 to 12 months), and will work with nib’s marketing team to ensure that the project is delivered in a manner that is culturally appropriate and that the target audience (Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei members, easily relates to).  Tasks will include developing and implementing digital marketing strategies, refining website content and design, stakeholder engagement and financial management and reporting. Our ideal candidate will:
  • Have strong oral and written communcation skills;
  • Be good at managing their time and prioritising multiple workstreams;
  • Have prior experience with digital and social marketing campaigns and collateral (ideally in the health and wellness sector);
  • Be able to build good relationships with colleagues;
  • Have strong financial awareness and commercial acumen;
  • Be analytically minded with exceptional organisational skills; and
  • Have deep knowledge of the matapono and tikanga of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.

Practice Nurse

Whai Maia is the tribal development arm for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.  We are a diverse business which encompasses education and learning, te reo Māori and culture, careers and entrepreneurship, housing, health and wellbeing, tourism and heritage, and environmental and resource management areas. We are looking for a superstar Nurse to work with the awesome team at our GP clinic in the Eastridge Mall, Mission Bay. We need someone highly engaged, passionate about patient care, customer-focussed, and comfortable in a busy clinic. This is a fixed term role for 12 months to cover parental leave. You will work with the administrators, nurses, and doctors to deliver a first-class experience. Our ideal candidate:
  • Experience within a GP clinic setting
  • Tech savvy – preferably Medtech32 PMS
  • Immunisation certificate
  • Cervical smear taker
  • Clear communication style, both written and verbal
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Familiarity with kaupapa Māori an advantage
