SPECIAL NOTICE – Special General Meeting Cancelled
Regrettably the Trust has decided to cancel this weekend’s Special General Meeting.
We have been made aware of an error with the information that was supplied to Independent Election Services. This included an incorrect list of registered members, which meant that some of our eligible voters did not receive their voting packs.
This is an unfortunate mistake but one that we are treating seriously. It is important that we find out what went wrong, so we will be holding an inquiry to look at what happened and why. From there we can put better processes in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
As a Trust we are committed to being open and transparent and we want to make sure all eligible whānau have the opportunity to vote on this kaupapa, as it is important for the future of our hapū. Rather than postpone the vote or extend the voting period, we will hold a totally new process in the New Year.
This will include an SGM early next year, and a new round of voting. In the meantime, the Trust will hold wānanga with whānau to fully explain what we are hoping to achieve through the changes to the Trust Deed.
We appreciate that this may raise questions and concerns. Whānau can contact any of our Trustees if you have pātai on this matter.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and who engaged with us during this process.
Anyone who has pre-booked travel will be reimbursed. If you are one of those whānau, please contact the office with copies of your bookings or tickets.
